September 25, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 11:59 pm

View the night sky live from Yipsi with Jeff Kopmanis and his “Orange Can!”

Jeff Kopmanis has been an amateur astronomer since 1998, and is is a member of the University Lowbrows. Jeff will live-streaming his nighttime observing session – he says he’ll keep streaming as long as there are interested viewers!

Jeff likes to run a casual and informal live-streaming observing sessions; Jeff says he’ll talk your ears off about nearly anything if let him!

Jeff Kopmanis is a senior web developer for the University of Michigan; Jeff started with modest equipment and currently owns a Celestron 8″ SCT (his “Orange Can”), an iOptron AZ Mount Pro and ZWO cameras he uses to do his astrophotography.

Jeff runs the Orange Can Astronomy Page on Facebook – where he broadcasts his observing sessions online whenever possible, and posts his astrophotos.  and generally anything pertaining to his “Orange Can” – an 8″ Celestron SCT telescope.

Jeff finds that while the cameras allow him to share the marvels of the sky, its also a way to extend his views of the universe to objects that the naked eye can barely make out. Being a computer professional made it natural to dive into the post-processing of the shots he’s taken.

Jeff also plays saxophone and keyboards with 4 bands, but Covid has severely curtailed his bands rehearsals and performances.
