Out-Of-This-World Chili Cookoff
January 18 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Come Hungry!Dig out your family chili recipe and come hungry to the second annual General Motors Astronomy Club Chili-Cookoff and Star Party! This event is open to the public, so bring your friends and family! GMAC President, Jim Goodall and Secretary, Moriah Goodall, are hosting the event in their 2000 square-foot pole barn. There will be water and pop provided, and you are welcome to bring any drinks or snacks you choose. The pole barn is heated and there is a play area for the kids. Entry fee is $5 per person or $10 per family.Payments are being accepted now through our Online Store. Or you may pay cash at the door. The coveted “Goodall Cup” Chili CookoffIf you plan to make chili (and we hope you do!), we ask that you bring your dish ready-to-serve, with serving utensils. Outlets will be available to plug in your slow cooker. There are no rules for the composition of the chili, and the winners will be decided by popular vote. Each person will get to cast three votes for whichever chilis they prefer. Some toppings will be provided, but feel free to bring your own or side dishes, with your chili. In addition to the door prizes mentioned below, we will have some special prizes available for the first, second, and third best chili dishes. May the best chili win! ActivitiesIn addition to door prize drawings throughout the night (and of of course chili), there will be group activities for the kids and adults alike, similar to Cloudy Night’s Workshop. This event is social and very informal, so if you would like to bring an activity with you, that would be fine too! Door Prizes! We will have lots of exciting door prizes, including GMAC Club merchandise and astronomy accessories! We also had a very generous donation to the club this week, a Vixen 4.5″ f8 reflector, which we will be giving away as well! See the picture below: If the weather is clear, we’ll have a scope set up for stargazing after dark! You are also welcome to bring your own scope. Also note that the club telescope is available for members to borrow (and take home with you) at this event, and it is never too late to purchase a Club Membership.
