Michigan’s Largest FREE Astronomy Event!

Our 25th year!

Due to the rise in the COVID Delta variant, this event will be live-streaming only this year.

Schedule:

Times are PM and ET.

Saturday Sept. 25:

Live Telescope Viewing

(Weather Permitting)

Awni Hafedh and Liam Finn show live views of our local star.

Chat with a bunch of astronomers!

Doug Bock will take you on a live tour of space using his telescope located in the northern lower Michigan.

Dr Brian Ottum will take you on a live tour of space using his telescope located in the desert.  We’ll see where stars are being born, clusters, dying stars and maybe even another galaxy!  Just click the link at 10pm Saturday.   Log into YouTube if you want to chat with Brian and the others.  He might even take your requests of objects to view.

Presentations

Bob Trembley gives a live tour of some interesting places around our solar system: Saturn’s Rings, Pluto and Charon, Mercury’s double sunrise, and more!

Mike Bruno shows off his scale model of the Solar System – we can’t wait until you can see this live and in-person again!

Jessey Godsey talks about his drinking-from-the-firehose experience of getting into astronomy … smart moves and regrets.  Learn about the questions you never thought you needed to ask.

Hang out with Tim Campbell, Tim Dey & Gordon Hansen and others as they team up to bring you the night sky, talk space and do a bit of trivia.

Online Education 2021-2022

GLAAC has many club members who are lecturers, some are volunteer NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassadors, some have telescopes that they live-stream. These volunteers will do presentations and online telescope sessions for your library, in-home or at-school group – for free! Presentation topics can range from astronomy and space science, to astrophotography, history, the space program and more!

If you are interested in having an online astronomy or space science presentation for your group, contact our member clubs!
